WINNIPEG – The logos and the gear scattered around show the room belongs to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. But in a few weeks, the cupboards will contain different colours – those of a team chasing a Grey Cup championship.

“I think I’m going to leave my locker dirty so whoever has to use it, it will be a bad time for them,” said Bombers defensive end Jamaal Westerman. “Maybe put some tacks down or something.”

Players packed up for home on Sunday following yet another disappointing year.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“Everyone needs to look themselves in the mirror and be ready to go this upcoming off-season,” said Bombers quarterback Drew Willy.

A total of twelve players could become free agents in February. Among those on the list is running back Cameron Marshall.

“I put what I believe was my best football out there,” said Marshall. “I played to the best of my abilities. Hopefully that’s enough for them moving forward.”

But it’s not just players left pondering about their future with the club. Many are screaming for a shake up on the sideline, specifically fire offensive coordinator Marcel Bellefeuille.

“He has been under a lot of scrutiny for sure,” said Willy. “For me, that hurts because I was never able to help him. You never want anyone want to deal with those things.”
