WINNIPEG — Wet snow could be falling in the city of Winnipeg and much of southern Manitoba.
A low pressure system heading into northern Ontario has covered much of Manitoba in rain Thursday morning but cold air moving in from the west is expected to change the rain over to wet snow by the afternoon according to a weather statement from Environment Canada. The statement was ended shortly before 1 p.m.

The wet snow is expected to melt on contact with the still relatively warm ground but two centimetres of accumulation is expected in the Red River Valley and over southeastern Manitoba. Five centimetres could be possible closer to the Ontario border.
The system is expected to move northeast and the snow will taper off in the evening.
