For the first time this fall, snow has fallen on Grouse Mountain.

More than two centimetres of powder have fallen on the mountain so far today, and officials believe more will come in the following days.

“We cannot wait for the start of skiing and riding season and the arrival of the first snowfall means we’re that much closer to hitting the slopes,” said Grouse Mountain Alpine Operations Manager Grant Wahl in a statement.

“We know everyone has been eagerly awaiting the first signs of winter and given our significant investment in the upcoming season we`re confident it will be a fantastic winter.”

There are concerns that last year’s poor ski season will be repeated thanks to a strong El Niño. However, Accuweather is currently predicting more snow than normal on North Shore mountains.
