New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ trailer arrives on election Monday

“The Force is calling to you…just let it in.”

So ends the latest trailer for the highly-anticipated Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens, released Monday night during ESPN’s broadcast of Monday Night Football. 

And the Jabba the Hutt-sized serving of new footage has fans around the world buzzing.

The new trailer features a heavy dose of franchise newcomers Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, as well as a look at new worlds such as the desert planet of Jakku.

WATCH: Disney released the longest trailer to date for the newest Star Wars movie. The two-minute clip introduces new characters and brings back some favorites. And as Brook Silva-Braga reports, in just a few hours movie tickets for Episode Seven sold out at many theater locations and online.

But of course, the trailer would not be complete without some familiar faces, and once again Harrison Ford’s Han Solo is on hand alongside his iconic Wookie partner Chewbacca.

“It’s true. All of it,” Solo intones at one point. “The Dark Side. The Jedi. They’re real.”

The trailer also features the first look at Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia, while Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker still has yet to be officially seen.

The trailer had fans on social media buzzing in the moments after it was released.

Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens will be released in theatres in North America on December 18, 2015.
