Global Edmonton supports Movember; join Team Global Do-MO-nation!

EDMONTON – Global Edmonton is taking action to support Movember, raising awareness and funds for men’s health. Sports Reporter John Sexsmith is championing the cause.

The Movember Foundation is a global charity committed to improving men’s health. According to its website, millions have joined the movement since 2003, raising $677 million and funding more than 1,000 programs focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

“The exciting part this year is the new piece we’re adding, which is MOVE,” explained Movember’s Jesse Hayman. “We know that the greatest thing guys can do for their health is be physically active, so we’re asking Mo Bros and Mo Sisters to get moving this month…make a 30-day commitment.”

John Sexsmith is inviting audiences to “Team Up and Grow Out, or Move” by joining Team Global Do-MO-nation to raise funds for men’s health.

“It’s a fun way to get serious about prostate cancer, this deadly disease,” said Sexsmith. “It’s a serious way to have fun as well.”

“We have that notion of being too tough to talk about things,” added Hayman. “So, we’re encouraging men to speak up and start taking care of themselves.”
