Traffic stop leads to drug and weapon charges

REGINA – Two people in Regina are facing weapon and drug charges after a traffic stop in the Queen City on Sunday.

On October 11th police pulled over a vehicle on the 600 block of McTavish Street for having an expired license plate, and found the vehicle had recently been reported stolen.

Police arrested the two people in the vehicle and a search revealed a loaded black CO2 pellet handgun and around eight grams of crystal methamphetamine.

33-year-old Jason Lee Sparvier and 25-year-old Mercedes Ashton Andrea Kitz are both facing numerous charges including Possession of a Scheduled Substance and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Both Sparvier and Kitz made their first court appearance on Tuesday morning.
