A man is in custody after a fire gutted a home in Surrey early Saturday morning.
Just after 1 a.m., the Surrey Fire Department and Surrey RCMP responded to reports of a house fire in the 11400-block of 142 Street. They arrived to find a home fully engulfed in flames.
None of the residents were injured.
The blaze caused several nearby homes to be evacuated. Traffic was diverted for several hours, but the area has since re-opened.
Surrey RCMP said the fire is suspicious in nature and are trying to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
