Stabbing victim speaks out about violent vandalism incident

WATCH ABOVE: Police are investigating after an alleged act of vandalism turned violent Saturday morning. Two men were stabbed after a confrontation in the neighbourhood of Marlbrough Park just before 2 a.m. Jenna Freeman spoke with one of stabbing victims just hours after it happened and has this report.

CALGARY -The Calgary Police Service is investigating a violent act of vandalism that ended with two people stabbed, one of them was seriously injured.

Just before 2 a.m. Saturday, Alex Bray heard a loud smash. His friend’s vehicle was damaged by vandals outside the home in the 200 block of Madeira Close NE.

Bray and his friends went outside to confront the offenders.

They followed one of the men into an alley and that’s when a car pulled up, with several other people inside and a fight broke out.

“Everyone is running screaming, ‘He’s got a knife,’” said Bray.

Bray and his friend were both stabbed.

“My arm is bleeding all over the place…my buddy got stabbed in the chest.”

Calgary EMS described the scene as chaotic, with bystanders attempting first aid on the victims.

Bray’s friend was rushed to Foothills hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries including stab wounds to his chest.  He has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Officers are trying to find the people responsible and they’re looking into whether the suspects and victims knew each other.

Bray said he was defending his friend, and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.  Police advise anyone who sees suspicious activity to keep your distance and call 911.
