HALIFAX – Nova Scotia-based Clearwater Seafoods is buying a UK seafood company with a strong presence in the European Union for the equivalent of 195-million dollars.

Macduff Shellfish Group has 14 scallop harvesting vessels and production plants in Mintlaw and Stornoway in Scotland.
Clearwater chief executive Ian Smith says the two companies have been building a working relationship for more than three years.
The deal is expected to close by October 30th.
