Man tries to rob Grande Prairie pizza place, fails to open cash register

EDMONTON –  Mounties in northwestern Alberta are looking for a man who tried to rob a pizza store with a kitchen knife, but left after he couldn’t figure out how to open the cash register.

Grande Prairie RCMP were called around 10:50 Monday night to an armed robbery at Two for One Pizza Plus.

The suspect allegedly showed up at the store with a kitchen knife in his hands and a bandana over his face. He walked toward the employees, who ran away to call police.

Surveillance video showed the man trying to open the cash drawer, to no avail. He then gave up and left the store, walking east. No one was hurt during the attempted robbery.

Suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian Male
  • 20 to 25-years-old
  • 5’8 tall
  • 180 to 200 lbs
  • Wearing a long black leather jacket
  • Dark hat with white writing on the side
  • Blue bandana over the face
  • Jeans
  • Black shoes with white soles and white laces
