Oilers finalize roster, assign Draisaitl to AHL

EDMONTON – The Oilers have finalized their 23-man roster for the 2015-2016 NHL season and it doesn’t include Leon Draisaitl.

The centre was assigned to the American Hockey League’s Bakersfield Condors on Monday.

The Oilers announced Sunday morning goalie Ben Scrivens, 29, was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment.

The Oilers’ roster includes two goaltenders (Anders Nilsson and Cam Talbot), eight defencemen and 13 forwards, including Connor McDavid, Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Both Jordan Eberle and Dillon Simpson are currently injured and not on the team’s active roster.

Last week, the Oilers sent Darnell Nurse to the minors.
