WINNIPEG – A new children’s exhibit showcasing love and forgiveness is opening at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
The exhibit, XOXO, focuses on people’s feelings and will be on display starting October 4 in the museum’s first level.
A series of interactive activities were designed help children connect with their emotions, learn responsibility, fairness, acceptance and empathy.
“These are all concepts that fairly young children can understand and that we can build upon as they get older,” said Mireille Lamontagnem, manager of educational programming and special projects at the CMHR.
The idea for XOXO came from the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and encourages visitors to play, act silly and have fun.
“Interactive exhibits are good for children, they need active play to learn… an exhibit on human emotions is a pretty rare thing,” Lamontagnem said.
The CMHR’s first travelling exhibition called “Magna Carta: Law, Liberty and Legacy” closed on September 18 and had 11,600 visitors.
