Edmonton LRT out of service for maintenance this weekend

Metro Line LRT opens to passengers Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015. Global News

EDMONTON – LRT maintenance could cause a headache for Edmontonians this weekend.

Starting at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Metro Line trains will only run between NAIT and Churchill stations because of maintenance along the Capital Line. Transfers between the two lines will only be possible at Churchill Station.

On Sunday morning, both the Metro and Capital Lines will be affected. Service between Clareview and Churchill stations will be suspended until noon.

The city is attempting to reduce the headache for commuters by provided buses to replace the LRT. Buses marked “LRT replacement service” will be in operation between each of the north LRT stations and into downtown until 12:30 p.m., running every seven to eight minutes.

The temporary LRT shutdown will allow crews to perform lighting adjustments and rail maintenance.
