UPDATE: Thirty-five-year-old Helmer Sinisterra-Mosquera of Surrey has been arrested and charged with one count each of sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, and overcoming resistance by choking on Oct.1. 

Surrey RCMP are asking for the public’s help to identify a man alleged to have committed a sexual assault earlier this week.

It happened on Sunday, Sept. 27 at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fraser Highway and 140th Street.

Police say a man sexually and physically assaulted a woman in a wooded area. The victim was treated for injuries at a local hospital.

The suspect is described as black, over 6 feet tall, approximately 160 pounds, in his late thirties, with short black hair and no facial hair.

The suspect has a distinctive “wandering” or “lazy” right eye.

At the time of the offence, he was wearing a dark blue sweater with thick black lettering, blue jeans and white runners.

He was also seen carrying a brown paper bag.
