A behind the scenes look at Facebook Canada

TORONTO – Nestled in midtown Toronto is the headquarters for Facebook Canada.

On the 14th floor of an unassuming office building at Yonge and Eglinton, a group of employees work with various companies to build brands and marketing strategies via social media. With over 18 million Facebook users in Canada and 845 million around the world, a savvy social media campaign can mean the difference between global support and widespread vitriol. Take Kony 2012, for example.

There’s no actual engineering or programming in-house, but Facebook North still carries the whimsy and relaxed vibe of its American counterpart.

At the heels of Facebook’s IPO announcement last February, The Morning Show’s Liem Vu decided to probe the working culture of Facebook’s head office in Canada.

“We’re a very flat organization so it doesn’t matter how senior you are, what university you went to, what your GPA was. If you’re here and you’re impactful and you use data to make really good decisions, you’re going to have a fantastic time here,” says Jordan Banks, Facebook Canada’s Managing Director.
