Social media savvy? Have a flair for shooting and editing video? Like to write? Love Saskatchewan? If so, you might just be the right fit to become the next Saskatchewanderer.

The Saskatchewan government will soon be taking applications from candidates to spend a year exploring and promoting the province. The program is meant to showcase Saskatchewan as a great place to live, work, and play.

Among the many things this year’s Saskatchewanderer, Ashlyn George, did was learn how drones are helping the province’s farmers, took a flight with the Snowbirds and worked with geologist in northern Saskatchewan.

It’s an adventure she said is like no other she has ever experienced.

“For the last five years, I’ve travelled the globe,” said George. “This year, I’ve had the chance to explore my home province.  I’ve experienced incredible attractions, visited innovative agricultural operations and met forward-thinking entrepreneurs right here in Saskatchewan.

Tourism Saskatchewan CEO Mary Taylor-Ash said George has brought exposure to many businesses and activities around the province.

“The stories shared through social media put these businesses directly in front of consumers in interesting and entertaining ways, and, ultimately, lead to more visitors and bookings,” said Taylor-Ash.

CAA Saskatchewan will remain the program’s exclusive sponsor in 2016 and will provide a vehicle, gas vouchers and a CAA membership.

Along with that, the 2016 Saskatchewanderer will be paid between $55,000 and $60,000 per year.

George will continue on in the position until mid-December with the new Saskatchewanderer taking over in January.

Applications, which must include a video, open at noon on Oct. 13 and close Nov. 9 at noon.
