Three arrested, charged after meth lab bust near Strasbourg

REGINA – RCMP have made three arrests and laid nearly two dozen charges after shutting down a meth lab near Strasbourg.

RCMP started an investigation in May of 2013 after they received a complaint from a local resident.

“Strasbourg RCMP members were called by a local resident that located some containers, some debris,” explained Sgt. Trevor Ellis. “They found an abandoned lab. Members attended, cleanup began and the investigation continued from that point.”

RCMP wouldn’t say what led them to arrest the three men or how long the lab had been in operation before shutting down. But they thanked the resident who came forward with the tip and urged others to be on the lookout for drug operations.

“You’re going to see a more rundown building, debris, hazardous chemicals that can be very dangerous to the public,” said Ellis.

He also defended the lengthy investigation process.

“Investigations take as long as they take. We have resources dedicated to this. We had 18 at one time during this investigation,” he said.

Young was released on numerous conditions, including not having any contact with his co-accused or a handful of other people. His next appearance will be on Nov. 1.

Oxby was remanded into custody as he is already serving time on another matter. Oxby will be back in court on Sept. 28.

Pring was already on a recognizance and posted a $10,000 cash bail to be released on multiple conditions, including a curfew. Pring will also return to court Nov. 1.
