6 people arrested, 83 charges laid in Edmonton drug and gun investigation

EDMONTON – Police have arrested six people and laid over 80 charges in connection with a drug and firearm investigation.

Police stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area of 111 Avenue and 149 Street on the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 25.

After determining there were grounds for searching the vehicle, officers found a loaded firearm, cocaine, meth, heroin, Dexedrine pills and cash.

The two people in the vehicle, 48-year-old Jody Mongeon and 19-year-old Taylor Bellegarde, were arrested.

Another investigation led to a search warrant for a home linked to Mongeon and Bellegarde.

During a search of the home in the area of 127 Street and 123 A Avenue, officers found multiple firearms, identity documents and stolen property.

Four other people were arrested at the home: James Knee, 28; Tamara Manning, 36; Asceneao Skorepa, 28; and Justin Crawford, 32.

A total of six adults were arrested and 83 criminal charges were laid, including:

  • 36 firearm charges
  • two other weapon charges
  • seven drug trafficking charges
  • seven drug possession charges
  • 14 possession of stolen property charges
  • five possession of stolen identity documents
  • four breach of condition charges

Edmonton police continue to investigate.
