At the Toronto International Film Festival, Barrymore shot down all rumours of another E.T. movie.

The actress is attending the film festival to promote her new film Miss You Already. The movie, starring herself and Toni Collette, is about two childhood friends who have their relationship tested after one gets pregnant and the other receives some tragic life-changing news.

The Hollywood star revealed in an interview with the Toronto Sun there are no plans for an E.T. 2.

“He does not ever want to make a sequel to that,” she said of her godfather and movie director Steven Spielberg. “He didn’t at the time, and he doesn’t now. That would be really weird.”

Barrymore co-starred in the 1982 hit film alongside Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, and Peter Coyote. Although there may not be anymore E.T. films, she is not opposed to making some more Charlie’s Angels movies. But if those are happening, the team had better do it quick.

“I’m like, ‘we’d better do this before we’re all in wheelchair,’ because that’s more of like the Naked Gun version. Everyone’s life is in a very distinct place, and movies are not the universe of a bunch of people who were involved in making the first two . So it’s tricky, but we talk about it very seriously.”
