BEACONSFIELD — A Sûreté Du Québec (SQ) officer and three other men appeared in court Saturday to face extortion charges linked to a real estate deal.
SQ officer Peter De Castris, his brother Dominic, Robert Brunet and Gian Digirolamo all appeared via video-conference to face a half-dozen charges stemming from a 2013 sale of a Lakeshore Road mansion.
All four had been arrested previously and released on bond without charges, according to Franco Schiro, who represents Peter De Santis.

He described the charges against his client as being without merit.
“This is guilt by association.”
De Santis bought the Lakeshore house for $500,000 but sold it after renovations in 2013 for $1.3 million.
All four men are barred from communication with Beaconsfield employees, after an alleged altercation directed against urban planner Dennis Chabot on a golf course in Vaudreuil-Dorion in 2012.
The four men are scheduled for a bail hearing Monday.
