Apple’s new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will be available in both gold and the new rose gold colour option, but the company has quietly removed the once-coveted gold option from the rest of its iPhone lineup.
If you try to purchase an older model iPhone on Apple’s website, you will notice that the gold option has been removed. However, the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and 5S were all available in gold up until Apple announced the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on Wednesday.

According to Apple’s website, the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and 5S are now only available in silver and space grey.
Global News contacted Apple regarding why the colour option was removed, but a spokesperson declined to comment.
Some Apple stores in the Toronto area still reported having stock in the gold iPhone 6 – however, if you are hoping to get your hands on an older model in gold, you might want to check third party retailers or carriers.
