Suspected drug lab in Surrey goes up in flames

ABOVE: Fire investigators and the RCMP are looking into a suspicious fire in Surrey. The flames broke out just after 9 and as Jeremy Hunka tells us, after crews put out the fire they made an interesting discovery.

RCMP are looking into a suspicious fire in Surrey.

It broke out on a property on 40 Avenue, near 157 Street, just after 9 a.m.

Two sheds went up in flames and crews found materials and chemicals consistently used in Clandestine labs. As a precaution, a few residences in the area were evacuated.

Officers are interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area for further information. Traffic in the area is blocked between 156 and 158 Street on 40 Avenue and is being rerouted until further notice.

Surrey RCMP’s Drug Section Unit and ‘E’ Division Clandestine Enforcement and Response Team are currently investigating and more details will be released as they become available. Surrey Fire Department is still on the scene at the moment to assist Surrey RCMP.
