CALGARY – The young man accused in a fatal gas-and-dash made a brief court appearance on Friday.
Joshua Cody Mitchell is charged with second-degree murder in the death of gas station attendant Maryam Rashidi, who was hit and run over along 16th Avenue N.W. on Sunday, June 7th.

Mitchell appeared in the Calgary Courts Centre via CCTV from the Medicine Hat Remand Centre.
The 20-year-old has retained a new lawyer; high-profile defence attorney Kim Ross.

Ross says he needs to get disclosure and review the case before he can anticipate what will happen next.
The case has been put over until September 18th.
