WINNIPEG – Residents of a Transcona house had a scary wake-up call Wednesday after fire tore through their two-storey home.
Fire crews responded to a house fire on the 400 block of Day Street at around 6 a.m.
When firefighters arrived on scene, smoke could be seen billowing from the home.
Three residents were home at the time but escaped the blaze uninjured.
The fire started in the basement and was so intense firefighters were chased out by the heat. However, crews were eventually able to get the flames under control.
No word on what caused the blaze but the arson unit is investigating.
