WATCH: Racing dachshund evades capture after wiener dog race at Minor League Baseball game

Hot dog! Can that pooch run!

Triple-A baseball team the El Paso Chihuahuas hosted a wiener dog race during a game against the Oklahoma City Dodgers Sunday.

The crowd cheered as a gaggle of dachshunds raced toward the finish line, but one dog just couldn’t contain his excitement.

Feeling energized by the open green grass, one competitor escaped and ran with all its might, tail wagging and tongue out.

Its freeform jaunt made it difficult for handlers to stop the wiener in its tracks until, finally, the playful pup stopped for a belly rub.

Perhaps the dog was predicting an early celebration: the Chihuahuas won the game 4-2.
