LETHBRIDGE- Crews were busy Friday morning cleaning up a diesel spill that closed a portion of 5 Ave. North.
Around 8:30 a.m. a city bus hit an item that had fallen off the back of a semi truck, right before the intersection at 28 St. North.
No one was injured, but diesel fuel did leak from the engine of the bus and entered the storm sewer system.
Crews sucked out the catch basins along the street and booms were placed in the Oldman River at the storm outfalls to stop any diesel from entering the river.
The driver of the semi truck is facing charges related to the Traffic Safety Act.
