One person is in hospital following an early morning report of a shot being fired in Surrey.
Surrey RCMP said they responded to the incident, which was unfolding on the street at 113B Avenue and 132 Street, just after midnight.
When police arrived they spoke to a man who had witnessed a male being assaulted by several people. The witness, police said, tried to break up the assault and the suspects then fled.
Shortly after, a vehicle arrived and picked up the injured man. A person inside the vehicle then fired a shot in the direction of the witness. No one was injured by the shot.
The vehicle fled but police tracked it down at a home in the 12900-block of 100 Avenue, where a standoff ensued.
Three people have been taken into custody by police and the injured man was taken to a local hospital.
The investigation is still on-going and police are uncertain about the relationship between all people involved in the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Surrey RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
