TORONTO – An elderly man is in hospital with critical injuries following an apartment fire in Toronto’s east-end Friday morning.
The fire started just before 6 a.m. inside a unit at 444 Lumsden Ave. near Danforth Ave. and Main St. in East York.
Toronto Paramedic Services say the victim was brought out of the apartment suffering from smoke-inhalation.
Fire officials say an infant was also treated at the scene but the injuries were minor.
There’s no word yet on the exact cause of the fire but it is believed it started in the kitchen and spread throughout the unit.
