WINNIPEG — More than 90 Manitobans rappelled down the side of one of Winnipeg’s tallest buildings for charity on Thursday.

The 11th annual Drop Zone event for SMD Foundation/Easter Seals Manitoba saw people take the plunge over the edge and the event was live streamed on this page from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Global Winnipeg’s Brittany Greenslade was first to rappel down the 17 storeys of the RBC building at 220 Portage Ave. at 7:50 a.m.
It’s one of the charity’s biggest fundraising events of the year, raising more than $107,000 last year. The goal this year is to raise at least $150,000.

One in six Manitobans has a disability and 47,000 people are helped through the vital programs and services offered by the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities.
