Dental office of Cecil the Lion’s killer reopens without controversial dentist

WATCH ABOVE: The dental office of Dr. Walter Palmer, the dentist who killed Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe, has reopened after being closed since July.

Walter Palmer’s Minnesota dental office has reopened weeks after the dentist was accused of killing Cecil the Lion, according to a local media report.

But Dr. Palmer, the location’s lead dentist, is no longer there.

CBS in Minnesota reported Monday morning that the office reopened Monday and released a statement saying it was once again ready to “serve our loyal patients.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The statement immediately clarifies that “Dr. Palmer is not on site” and that employees will not discuss the matter further.

“Our employees have no comment. The media has already inquired at our homes, with our families however we have no comment and will not entertain your questions or interview requests.”

The office closed days after it was revealed Palmer killed Cecil The Lion, a famous animal which roamed a protected zone in Zimbabwe.  He issued a statement apologizing for what he called a mistake, but that didn’t stop his business from being the target of online threats and poor reviews.

The dental office’s website appears to be down and calls by Global News resulted in a busy signal.

The guide who helped Palmer in killing the lion has been put on trial in Zimbabwe and the country is calling for the Minneapolis dentist’s extradition to face charges.
