TORONTO – Apple is already seeing success with its streaming music platform, just one month after its launch.
The tech giant has seen 11 million users sign up for a three-month free trial of the service, which is only available on Apple devices so far.
“We’re thrilled with the numbers so far,” Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet software and services, told USA Today.

Cue added that only two million users have signed up for the more expensive family plan – which allows up to six users to stream content using the same account. Individual accounts will cost $9.99 per month after the three-month free trial period ends.
By comparison, rival streaming service Spotify has 20 million paid users.
Apple Music launched at the end of June and includes a library of over 30 million songs. The service also includes its own radio station Beats 1 and an artist-oriented social network called Connect.
However, because Apple is still offering the service free for three months, it’s worth noting that some of those 11 million users could cancel their account before they start paying for it.
