WATCH: Ryan Reynolds stars in ‘Deadpool’ trailer

TORONTO — Vancouver’s Ryan Reynolds — and the city’s Georgia Viaduct — have starring roles in the Deadpool trailer released Tuesday.

The trailer, which debuted at San Diego’s Comic-Con last month, shows Deadpool battling bad guys on the bridge connecting downtown Vancouver with communities to the east.

The scenes, which mostly involved Reynold’s stunt double, were shot in April.

Reynolds plays Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative who is transformed into the titular wisecracking antihero.

“Please don’t make the super suit green,” Wilson pleads. “Or animated!”

The line is a reference to Reynolds’ much-derided role in the 2011 flop Green Lantern.

The trailer showcases the kind of slickly-choreographed action and CGI-enhanced villains fans expect from a Marvel movie as well as the kind of wit they expect from Reynolds and co-stars like T.J. Miller.

“You are hard to look at,” Miller’s character Weasel tells disfigured Wilson. “You look like the topographical map of Utah. You look like an avocado had sex with an older avocado.”

Also out is the movie’s red band trailer, which contains cursing, graphic violence, a bare butt (sorry, not Reynolds’) and a foul-mouthed Leslie Uggams.

Deadpool is scheduled to hit theatres on Feb. 12.
