Crime Stoppers: Maple Ridge police seek help with taxi robber

Crime Stoppers needs your help to catch the suspect who terrified a taxi driver and stole a cab on January 27.

The incident happened at 1 a.m. in Maple Ridge, when the taxi driver received a call to pick someone up near Waresley Street and 116 Avenue.

When he arrived a man sat in the front seat and asked to be taken to 207 Avenue.

The man then pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The driver managed to escape, but the thief took off with the vehicle.

Since the taxi’s security key was in the driver’s pocket, the vehicle only made it two blocks before it was abandoned.

The suspect is described as six feet tall, wearing a black jacket and a white hoodie.
