Woman charged with hitting and killing cyclist near Okotoks

CALGARY – Police have laid charges in a fatal collision between a car and a cyclist near Okotoks, earlier this year.

RCMP say 42-year-old Deric Kryvenchuk was travelling eastbound on Highway 7 on May 4 when he was struck from behind by an eastbound vehicle.

Kryevnchuk was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a wife and two young daughters.

The driver was uninjured.

On Friday, RCMP announced that after consultation with the Crown, they had charged 42-year-old Joely Lambourn of Okotoks with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

Lambourn has been released from custody and is scheduled to make her first court appearance in Okotoks Provincial Court on August 14.
