Bank robbers flee, leave behind suspicious package

MONTREAL – Police are investigating after two suspects robbed a bank on the corner of Pie-IX Boulevard and Simon Street in Montreal North.

It happened at 12:35 p.m.

“Following the exit of the two suspects, [officers] located a suspicious package,” said André Leclerc with Montreal police.

“It was quickly associated with those two suspects.”

A perimeter has been established between rue du Progrès and Émery streets, as well as de l’Hôtel de Ville and Gariépy Avenues.

The SWAT team is on the scene carrying out an investigation.

“Our experts in explosives are on the scene to evaluate the case and neutralize it if need be,” said Leclerc.

Montreal police were not able to say if the suspects made off with any money; officers are searching for them.
