REGINA – Twenty-two residents of the Cancer Patient Lodge in Regina have had to be evacuated because heavy rains overloaded the drainage system, leaving more than a metre of water sitting in the basement.

Gladys Wasylenchuk if the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency said other lodgings have been provided for them and they’ve been given meal vouchers.

The lodge provides a home for out-of-town patients in the city getting cancer treatment.

Wasylenchuk says they hope repairs can be made so the patients can return after the long weekend. The facility provides a home-away-from-home for people receiving cancer treatment in the city.
