Young man dies in collision near Rocky Mountain House

EDMONTON — A 20-year-old man died Monday night after a two-vehicle crash in western Alberta.

The driver of a car failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 756 and Highway 11, 10 kilometres west of Rocky Mountain House, and hit the loaded quad trailer of a gravel truck, RCMP said.

The 20-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to hospital in Red Deer in stable condition, and the 20-year-old male driver was released from local hospital after being treated.

The 52-year-old driver of the gravel truck was treated and released at the scene.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP and the Calgary Medical Examiner’s office are investigating. Charges in connection to the collision are pending.

The RCMP said it will not release the names of those involved in the crash.
