Pair facing charges in Saskatchewan First Nation homicide

RED EARTH FIRST NATION, Sask. – Two people are facing charges in the death of a man on a Saskatchewan First Nation. Dion Head, 42, was found dead in his residence Saturday morning on the Red Earth First Nation.

Investigators determined his death was a homicide. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at Saskatoon City Hospital.

A man and a teen were arrested Saturday afternoon at two residences on the First Nation.

Ernest McKay, 20, and a 16-year-old teen are each facing a second-degree murder charge. The teen cannot be named under the provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Both are scheduled to make their first court appearance on Tuesday in Melville.

Red Earth First Nation is approximately 290 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
