Abbotsford Police are looking for an arson suspect, believed to be responsible for two fires last week.
On Tuesday, July 21, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and the Abbotsford Police were called to a dumpster fire at 2:15 p.m. in the 31200-block of Maclure Road at Ellwood Centre. After looking at surveillance video, police saw a suspect. He is described as a Caucasian man in his 20’s with a slim build and wearing a pink t-shirt and grey pants. He was riding a skateboard.
The next day at 7:30 a.m., both agencies were called back to the same location for a second dumpster fire. Again surveillance video was reviewed and the suspect appeared to be the same man, wearing the same clothing, and again riding a skateboard.
Police say although both of these fires were extinguished quickly, they were acts of arson and the potential for damage to property and injuries to people was very real.
Abbotsford Police investigators say they hope someone recognizes the suspect and anyone with information is asked to call them at 604-859-5225. Anyone can also text them at 222973 (abbypd) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
