Infant girl injured in Trans-Canada crash dies in hospital

CALGARY – An infant involved in a horrific crash on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Calgary has passed away.

The two-month-old girl and three others were rushed to hospital on Friday after the collision on Highway 1 at Garden Road.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision.

The child, her mother, father and another relative were all travelling in a Hyundai Elantra. Her mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while the baby and adult relative were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The father, who was driving, was uninjured.

On Sunday evening, RCMP announced the infant had died as a result of the injuries she sustained.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
