Kristen Foster said in a statement: “Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
The only daughter of late singer Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown died at Peachtree Christian Hospice, where she had been moved as her condition deteriorated.
“Krissy was and is an angel,” Brown said in a statement released Monday. “I am completely numb at this time. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honour her memory.
“Our loss is unimaginable.”
On Monday morning, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said an autopsy will be needed to determine what lead to Brown’s death.
According to the statement, “interpretation of autopsy findings and other information will also be challenging. However, an autopsy could be helpful to address questions which may arise about the cause of her unresponsiveness and eventual death.”
Singer Dionne Warwick, a cousin of Whitney Houston, described Bobbi Kristina as “a sweetheart.” Appearing on Sunday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Warwick said: “She will be missed, that’s for sure. She was a good girl.”
Brown’s companion Nick Gordon and a friend discovered her face-down in the tub on the morning of Jan. 31. She was rushed to North Fulton Hospital, where she was reportedly placed in a medically-induced coma.
Brown was later moved to another hospital in Atlanta.
In May, a court named Bobby Brown and Pat Houston co-guardians of Bobbi Kristina Brown and made lawyer Bedelia Hargrove her conservator.
Houston died Feb. 11, 2012 in the bathtub of her suite at the Beverly Hills Hilton. She was 48. A coroner ruled she accidentally drowned but said heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors. Several prescription drugs were found in her system.
Houston left her entire estate to her daughter. Gordon, who had been raised by Houston but never formally adopted, claimed to have married Brown in January 2014.
On June 24, a court-appointed conservator for Brown, filed a lawsuit against Gordon alleging assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, unjust enrichment and conversion.
Police in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell say they’ve turned over their investigative file on Brown to the district attorney, who will determine whether any charges will be filed.
In Monday’s statement, the medical examiner’s office said the Roswell Police Department “continues its investigation into the circumstances preceding and surrounding the time of the original incident leading to her death.”
Last year, Brown lashed out on social media at Angela Bassett for not including her in the Lifetime biopic Whitney. Bassett countered that Brown is “not an actress.”
Brown was on the defensive last March when she addressed concerns about her health sparked by a photo she posted on Instagram that showed her in a bikini.
“I am my mothers child! Have you ever heard of a #fastmetabolism ?” she tweeted. “Damn, lol, it’s incredible how the world will judge you 4ANY&EVERYthing.”
Only two days before being found in the bathtub, Brown tweeted: “On my own.”
Brown appeared on her father’s reality show Being Bobby Brown and starred in her own short-lived series, The Houstons: On Our Own. She also had a small guest role on a 2012 episode of For Better or Worse.
Brown, who occasionally appeared on stage with her mother, had vowed to kickstart a music career of her own.
“She could but anybody could. I don’t want to jinx her. I’m trying to make sure she doesn’t.”
