Heavy rain is expected in Metro Vancouver today, says Environment Canada.

In a special weather statement, Environment Canada said:

Rain fell on much of the region early Sunday morning. Heavy rain cells are expected to last throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. Conditions are expected to improve later in the day.

The downpour will likely come as a relief to most Metro Vancouver residents. Many took to social media to express their joy when rains hit B.C.’s South Coast Friday.

The rain will not be enough to cancel Stage 3 water restrictions, which went into effect in Metro Vancouver earlier this week.
