EDMONTON — The possibility of up to 60 millimetres of rain has caused Environment Canada to issue a special weather statement for Edmonton and central Alberta.

A slow-moving low pressure system is expected to move over the city and surrounding areas Thursday night and remain into Friday. In addition to the rain, winds could gust as high as 80 km/h Friday, according to Environment Canada.
