A UBC student who died after attending an electronic dance music festival in Washington state last month is being honoured by loved ones today.
Family and friends are getting together to remember Vivek Pandher, a 22-year-old UBC student who fell ill at the Paradiso Festival at the Gorge Amphitheatre on June 27.
At UBC, a number of flags were lowered to half-mast in his memory. Pandher was studying for a degree in electrical engineering.
The BC Coroners Service says he fell ill on June 27 and was taken to a hospital in Wenatchee. Due to the severity of his illness, he was transferred back to B.C. and admitted to Vancouver General Hospital on June 30.
He passed away last week.
His cause of death is still under investigation and authorities in B.C. are working with investigators in Washington state to determine what happened.
