WATCH ABOVE: A surveillance camera captured at least one suspect bust into the store and leave nearly empty-handed.
TORONTO – Front door, back door, what does it really matter when you can just rip the whole wall down?
Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a suspect linked to an incredible burglary at Warthog Firearms in Spring, TX.
The unidentified person used a backhoe to smash down a portion of the rear of the store to gain access to what they might have hoped was a full armoury. Surveillance video provided by the store shows the suspect, who appears to be male, climb over the rubble and use a flashlight to navigate the display counters.
“They took one rifle, but it was a non-working rifle at the time,” owner Joe Bargas told KPRC. “All the good guns and everything else were locked up in the safe. They did all this damage for almost nothing.”
Bargas claims the structure may have sustained tens of thousands of dollars in damage but the building owner has insurance, which he hopes will help get the store operational as soon as possible.
He also takes security seriously, which may explain why heavy machinery was used instead of a more traditional method.
“Good locks, security alarms, surveillance video and stuff like that, so. . . We’ve tried to do our due diligence but if somebody wants something, they’ll try and take it from you,” Bargas explained in a FOX 26 report.
“We’ve tried to do our due diligence to make it theft-proof, but when you have to use a backhoe to get in, we must have done something right,” he added.
