CALGARY – RCMP have identified two people killed in a house fire at a rural home southwest of Olds, Alta. in the early hours of Monday morning.

Gery Fuchs, 62, and Lori Fuchs, 59, were found dead in their home after the fire, which officials say was not suspicious.

Olds RCMP were called to the residence at about 4 a.m. and found the home fully engulfed in flames.

An excavator was on scene on Tuesday as officials tried to determine the cause of the fire. The house was completely destroyed.

“Anytime there’s a fire, a lot of the physical evidence is lost,” said Olds RCMP Cpl. Michael Black on Tuesday. “It’s always tough working in rural environments getting resources out here to try and save the scene. It’s been difficult on everybody.”
