CALGARY – A recent lpsos survey reveals positive public approval ratings for both Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Calgary’s city council members.
The mayor received an approval rating of 81 per cent for his overall performance – 36 per cent strongly approved, 44 per cent somewhat approved, and 19 per cent strongly or somewhat disapproved.
Nenshi’s approval rating was the highest in the northeast at 94 per cent. His approval rating was the lowest in the northwest at 73 per cent. The mayor rated higher with the women who were polled (88 per cent) versus participating men (73 per cent).
City council’s approval rating fell short from Nenshi’s, but still remained positive. At 65 per cent, two thirds of Calgarians approved of the councillors’ performance.
Council’s approval was also higher with women (73 per cent) versus men (58 per cent).
The poll asked 507 Calgarians their thoughts on the mayor and his councilors on June 18 and 23.
