Surrey RCMP is investigating a report of shots fired between two vehicles travelling down Fraser Highway on Tuesday morning.

Mounties say a caller told them that a black Dodge Durango, with five to six South Asian men inside, drove up next to a black Nissan Maxima, in the 15700-block of Fraser Highway. Two separate people from the Durango then shot at the Maxima before driving away eastbound. The Maxima gave chase and people in the Durango reportedly began firing at them again.

The Maxima broke off the chase and the Durango was last seen heading westbound on Fraser Highway. The occupants of the Maxima called police and were found unharmed.

“We’re fortunate that no one was hurt and we don’t recommend that anyone pursue armed suspects for obvious safety reasons,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann in a release. “Our investigators are now searching the route for surveillance camera footage and will be completing a forensic examination of the victim’s vehicle. Investigators are still combing Fraser Highway for evidence and motorists may experience some delays in the area.”
