PORTLAND, Ore. — A grand jury has indicted Journey drummer Deen Castronovo on a rape charge.
The 50-year-old Castronovo was arrested June 14 in Salem, Oregon, on misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence. He was released on bail and ordered not to have contact with the woman.
Charges of rape and other crimes have since been added. Castronovo was booked into the Marion County Jail without bail Monday night. He is scheduled to enter a plea Tuesday afternoon.
The drummer’s attorney, Jeffrey Jones, did not immediately return a phone message. He said two weeks ago that his client was deeply saddened by the accusations of domestic violence and confident that no criminal conduct occurred.
Castronovo has been with Journey since 1998, when he replaced Steve Smith.
