Driver killed in collision on Calgary Trail

A 30-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle collision on Calgary Trail Monday, June 29, 2015.

EDMONTON – A 30-year-old man was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle collision in south Edmonton.

Police were called to the collision just before 10 p.m. It happened in the southbound lanes of Calgary Trail at Ellerslie Road.

Police say the vehicle struck a power pole. The man driving the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene.

Police say the 1988 GMC pickup truck involved in the collision was reported stolen. Speed may have been a factor in the collision, according to police.

The southbound lanes of Calgary Trail were closed to traffic at Ellerslie Road Monday night.

This is Edmonton’s 12th fatal collision of 2015.
